Once upon a time in Ancient Kerala there was a Duke called Mannarkadu Kavalappara Nair.One day he got a Male Baby Elephant from Jungle.While Seeing its Long and Powerful Tusk,Nair Called him "Komban"(In Malayalam Language Komb means tusk)-He also given a petname to him-Kuttan-Later Komban became popular in the name of "Kavalappara Komban".The Elephant became popular not only by it's Strength,but also the wild &Aggressive nature.He used to broke his chain,and created trouble always.So Nair bought a Powerful Chain to Control him.A powerful Guard called Kelu Nambiar was killed when he made an attempt to Control the Elephant by his beating-Stick.After the Kill the Elephant went in to the nearest pond in order to take a bath.The Nair Dedicated Komban in to his Family Temple-The Kudal manikyam Temple of Irrinjalakuda.He thought that his God's Power will change Komban's Aggressive behaviour.But "Kavalappara Komban" showed his aggressive behaviour also in the Temple.So many Elephant Guards were killed.After each kill Komban used to take a bath in Temple's pond.This bath bacame famous in the name of "Pulakully"-which means taking bath after death.A guard called Kunnjan became Successful in creating a good Relationship with Komban.The heavy & Powerful chain which used to control Komban also became popular.One day Komban made an attempt to attack a Passing train.But he failed to overcome the Speed of the Vehicle.

The Inevitable End

One day Komban and the guard called Kunnjan went to the famous "Thiruvanchikulam temple"(lies at Methala village, south of Klur, in Thrissur District), to take part the Temple's Festival.Suddenly Komban became aggressive and tried to broke one of the Gopura Vathil's (Doors) of the Temple. He Stabbed on that Doors by using his tusk. But failedto get success. He continued his effort and stabbed again and again on to that doors.Hearing this News,The Kochi Maharaja ordered to gave Protection to the doors.The Polce force(British Police) arrived . They took their Guns and aimed straight to komban's head and fired . The Bullets pierced komban's head.Komban fell down by a loud Foley Sound.Kavalappra nair arrived in his "Pallakku".(the Man carrieing Vehicle).He saw the last moments of his Elephant.He wept bitterly by saying that "even the God-Power didn't able to Save him".Kavalappra Komban Still Lives in Memories
